Contact John

I’m here to make sure your voice is heard in Westminster.

Got a question or an issue? Book a surgery at one of the venues across the constituency, or reach me through any of the channels below.

Direct contact

How to reach me.

For most casework, the form on this page or an email is fastest. For urgent local matters, ring the Rugby office direct.

Visits and opportunities

Beyond casework.

Invite me to your organisation

As you can see on my social media, I visit clubs, groups, organisations and businesses of all kinds across the constituency. Please don’t hesitate to contact me to visit yours. I want to learn about what you do, hear of your successes and understand any challenges you face.

Work experience

I want to give as many people as possible who are from, or have a close connection to, my constituency the opportunity to gain work experience in my office. Please email me your CV and tell me why you want to do work experience with me and my team.

Visiting Parliament

Parliament belongs to all of us, and it is normally open to the public. You do not need an appointment to see your parliament in action, watch a debate (subject to capacity) or watch a select committee. If I am around, you can leave a message at the desk in Central Lobby and they will see if I am free to talk to you.

Good to know

How my office works.

Debate, yes. Abuse, no.

I believe strongly in our democracy and I take my role within it very seriously. I expect and welcome that people will disagree with me and/or the Labour government, sometimes strongly. I will talk to any constituent about any issue they want to discuss and am very comfortable with robust debate. No topic is off limits.

However, I insist that discussions are carried out in a respectful and polite manner. Whether at my advice surgeries or in any other interactions I have, I will not tolerate abusive language, threats against me or others, intimidation, harassment or hate speech of any kind. Such behaviour may be reported to the police.

Casework and social media

I do not routinely monitor social media comments, and I do not carry out casework via social media comments. If you are a constituent and would like to raise an issue, please contact my office or book an advice surgery appointment.

I do not normally respond to social media comments because:

  • I do not have time to read all my social media comments.
  • Like all MPs I receive a large volume of abuse and defamatory comments online, and when I have engaged in the past it has led to more abuse, not less.
  • I have a clear process for engaging with my constituents in person or in writing.

Organisations outside the constituency

If you are an organisation not based in my constituency and you want to contact me about a policy matter, please email john.slinger.mp@parliament.uk and state in the subject field: for attention of Parliamentary office.
